In 1998 the Danelectro 3021 was re-issued in two versions, the 59-DC and the 59-DC Pro. In 2007 a limited run of a '59 Dano model was introduced with some changes. Some players would consider these changes to be upgrades while others still swear by the vintage 3021 and the 59-DC first reissue. Whichever you prefer, these hot double cutaways are still one of the most coveted guitars on the planet with thier lipstick pickups, seal pickguard and large hollow inner cavity creating that distinctively unique open, twangy "Dano" sound.

Testimonial: I just wanted to let you know that you have provided me with the greatest guitar that I have ever played. I don't know whether it was that old Danelectro charm or a magic day at the factory, but there is certainly something special about this 59-DC. And it came so well packed! And fast! Keep up the good work. Will Kindler / Wilton, New Hampshire

Testimonial: Just a note to you to let you know that the 59-DC arrived safely - no delay and no problems. What can I say? This has fast become my favorite guitar. Now I can really believe what everybody has been saying about Danelectros. I have in my collection some quintessential examples of the "main players." A '66 Gibson SG and a '87 American Standard Strat - both fantastic-playing guitars. Honestly, I think the Dano plays so much better. It just feels so comfortable and the sounds out of the amp are phenomenal. Truly a great experience this has been for me. I'll be very happy for a long time! Thank you so much. As much as I like this 59-DC I'll be keeping my eye out for another model. Thanks for your great website and your outstanding service! Steve MacDonald / Denver, Colorado

Testimonial: My Limo Black 59-DC arrived safely today! It was delivered to Sweden in only 8 days during the Christmas holiday. The guitar is in perfect condition. It sounds great and I love to play it. Thanks for your great service! Bengt Thand / Sweden

Testimonial: The Daddy-O-Yellow 59-DC arrived and is fantastic! Thank you very much. It has such a low action and the sounds are brilliant. It's really nice to play. Thank you for your support through emails over the past week or so. Your service has been very, very good and the guitar was really well packaged. It is now my favorite of my guitars!I shall definitely shop with you again!  Eddy Winlow / Yorkshire, U.K

Testimonial: My Commie Rd 59-DC arrived in just four days. This Dano is incredible.  I simply cannot get over the tone this bad boy puts out. This guitar is so going to be attached at my hip for a long, long time. Zach Bishop / Cortland, NY

    '59 Dano - circa 2007

    Img538.png

Revamped in 2007, the '59 Danelectro comes with upgraded pickups, upgraded electronics, fully adjustable/intonating bridge, plus antiqued pickguard, antiqued side binding tape and antiqued hardware.

The '59 Dano features professional level playability, intonation, and electronics and is entirely road worthy. The four finishes were inspired by classic car colors and convey a truly retro vibe. Comes with the familiar side binding tape running around the edge of the guitar. The tape has been lightly treated with a shellac to enhance the vintage look. The tuners are die cast and hold the tuning well. An aluminum nut contributes to its unique sound.

The '59's lipstick style Alnico pickups provide that distinctive Dano twang. A warmer wind on these pickups increases the output while producing a less high-end tone. A beefy 3-position (on-on-on) toggle switch and rugged volume and tone knobs stand up well to aggressive playing. By the way, the playability is one of the most impressive aspects of this guitar with low, buzz free action. This is a quality guitar with plenty of sustain, great tone and it will give you the feeling that you are playing a much more expensive instrument.

Question: What are some of the differences between a 59-DC first reissue manufactured between 1998-2001 and a '59 Dano second reissue from 2007?

Answer: Here's what makes the 2007 '59 Dano different from the first reissue 59-DC. Unlike the first reissues that were made in Korea, the 2007 '59's were made in China. It is approximately one pound heavier at 6.6 versus 5.5 lbs; has somewhat hotter/louder pickups; different shape headstock; upgraded (Gotoh style) tuners; fully adjustable and intonable bridge; wider/thicker neck; upgraded toggle switch; input jack is now on the side rather than on the front; single volume and tone controls have replaced the concentric controls; matte pickups and hardware as opposed to shiny chrome; matte finish; aged looking side binding tape and seal pickguard for a vintage look.
